Why should you know waltz?

Nowadays young people are more attracted in music by rock, hip hop, pop, house and more. I sometimes wonder where has the romance of old music disappear? If you sometimes pay attention to all the lyrics, they say the same thing : I want you, blah, blah, I feel you blah, blah, I love you etc etc . But what is the essence of all this? In fact, the music teenagers listen, what does it want to express? How do you feel when you listen to it?

I'll tell you: It has NO ESSENCE! When listening to it you only feel like bending your head up and down just to  keep up with the rhythm. Do you think you could impress a girl doing this? There is no trace of elegance in this.

Suppose you’re on a date with a girl, it’s getting dark, you’re in the park, let’s say near a lake, the sun goes down, just you and her. Everything around you is quiet, calm, an enchanting atmosphere. Of course, you want to make her feel good, relaxed so you decide to listen to some good music. You use your iPod to play to rock music? No way!!! Best choice would be: Open Arms by Journey, Que Sera Sera by Pink Martini, Serenade to Spring from Songs From a Secret Garden. That sure will capture her.

And finally, you could make the move that would steal her heart. You take her hand and just a few dance steps, waltz preferably,  by the lake. How romantic would it be? I'll tell you for sure that girl will fall in love with you.

The Lovers Waltz

As we gathered material we knew it would include 'The Lovers' Waltz,' our most requested new tune. When we began putting this album together it became obvious that this was going to be a romantic album, as well as an eclectic one. The idea was to focus on our own compositions, as well as some longtime favorite melodies by other artists. Our list included an Irish air ('Give Me Your Hand'), a Fats Waller Song ('Honey on the Moon"), a Klezmer classic ('Chosen Challe Mazeltov'), plus some gorgeous waltzes and fiddle tunes. Also, the album was mostly dance music from a wide variety of different traditions, such as a Finnish Waltz ('Metsakukkia'), a '40s swing tune ('It's All In Your Mind') and a Cajun two-step ('Louisiana Wedding Bells').

Waltz With You- Ioan Forgaci

To waltz with you along the stars i wish,
Floating on wings of stellar- storm,
Losing our way, forgetting it
And comets would remain behind us,

The universe would cry for us
With peaks of thousands stars
For we will lose and then
We'll disappear dancing like pixies.

And then we'll say
                                   We are not foreigners,
                                   Because we could take
                                   The beauty in our souls,
The light of love from clay
We put it in our hands, with just a smile.

My Papa's Waltz- Theodore Roethke

                                   The whiskey on your breath
                                   Could make a small boy dizzy;
But I hung on like death:
                                   Such waltzing was not easy.

We romped until the pans

Slid from the kitchen shelf;
My mother's countenance
Could not unfrown itself.

The hand that held my wrist
Was battered on one knuckle;
At every step you missed
My right ear scraped a buckle.

You beat time on my head
With a palm caked hard by dirt,
Then waltzed me off to bed
                                   Still clinging to your shirt

Autumn Waltz- George Bacovia

At windows, autumn plays a funeral march
In monotone, a waltz of mourning ... - Come,
Let's waltz, my darling, through the drawing-room
To the tune of autumn's mortuary dirge.

Listen, as the music clearly sounds
Across the stately, antique, solemn park,
From sorrow-laden wooden instruments
At windows, autumn plays a funeral march.

Now as the waltz sighs, softly whispering,
O let me clasp you to me now ... - And come,
Let's waltz, my darling, shrieking as we turn
To the tune of autumn's mortuary dirge.

The last waltz (fourth part)

Andreea runs and tries to find Andrew. She hears sights. In a hidden corner was Andrew. He was crying.

- Andrew you were right. Josh is a liar.
He gets up, wipes his tears and asks:
-Can i have the last waltz?
She falls in his arms and says:
-Yes!

But this wasn't their last waltz. Andreeas parents found out the situation that Andrew was going through and because they knew him as a good boy that studies they wanted to pay not only his high school but also college.

Andrew and Andreea studied together in the same high school, same college, they got to have a good job and finally they got married.

And lived happily ever after dancing waltz together.

The last waltz (third part)

-Did anything happen with you?
-No!
-You have anything to tell me?
Josh doesn't answer.
-Can you tell me a poem, while we are dancing?
-Andreea, is not the right time.
-Do you have anything o tell me?
-No!
Josh gets itchy.
-Do you?
-Yes i do have something to tell you, the truth is that i didn't write those poems but i wanted you to dance with me.
Andrew was right. Andreea gets outside and starts looking for Andrew. Josh follows her.
-Your are not going after that dummy, right?
-O yes i'm. And he is not a dummy. You are.
-Andreea!

-Will you dance waltz tomorrow with Josh?
-Why do you care for?
-I care because he is hiding things from you. Something concerning the love poems.
-How do you know about poems?
-I know because......
-Because?
-I wrote them.
-You? Andrew don't be jealous on Josh because he wrote me love poems. I'll go dance with him and not with you. And she leaves. Andrew is revolted. She will dance with that bastard when i'm the one she should dance with. Andrew decides to go to the ballroom just to see Andreea for the last time.

The day for the ball came, everyone gathers in the ballroom. Andrew did the way he thought, he is passing by just to see her. Andree and Josh were dancing along other couples.

The last waltz (first part)

Andrew, a sad boy, poor and alone was walking along the school garden. This is the last walk forever. He is about to leave all his good and bad memories here so the wind would story them to the next school kids generation. He has to go to high-school but his parents are poor and they can't support him. Andrew knows to play violin and he decided to start earning some money singing in big towns. Everything he always wanted was to dance a waltz with the girl he is in-love with but the saddest thing for him is that she doesn't like him. He used to write her love notes like:
"You are my love
The most expensive thing that i have
 Please be with me
This is what i'm wishing for"

Andreea, the girls he likes, was never interested because he didn't write his name at the end of the note. He started being mad, sad and unsure for most of the time. He started singing and he forgot to send her love notes. But this wasn't the truth, Andreea was very impressed and she was looking for the author, sad she didn't knew that Andrew likes her and he wrote those love notes. Sad!
Days were passing and the Andrews soul got filled with sadness, one more month and the school was done, everything will then belong to the past. Andreea was looking for some answers, who is the author of those love notes? She wants to dance with him their last waltz, before they split and maybe never see again. Days were flying and Andreea got sad, will she ever meet the secret author of her love notes?
One day she was on the schools hallway and another boy, Josh, was passing by her, he is inlove with her.

-Hy Andreea, how are you? Why are you so sad?
-None of your business Josh.
-I wanted to tell you something but never had the gut to.
-What?
-I'm the secret author.
-Really? Then you wanna go with me to the ball?
-Of course, i'll be honored to.

Andreea was about to do the mistake of her life. Andrew heard every word between Andreea and Josh. Poor boy!
